After World Extreme Cage fighting merged with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Urijah Faber moved with them. As part of the merger contract, all World Extreme Cage fighting fighters were brought over to fight under the newly added weight divisions.
At his UFC debut, Urijah was the only World Extreme Cage fighting fighter to compete with the promotion prior to Zuffa LLC owning them. He first fought exclusively for World Extreme Cage fighting, until the WEC merged with the UFC, and then he totally moved over to the UFC and began fighting exclusively for them.
For his first fight Faber defeated former WEC bantam weight champion Eddie Wineland via a unanimous decision on March 19th 2011.
He then went for a rematch against Dominic Cruz, whose only defeat was by Urijah. This time Faber lost on July 2nd 2011 at Ultimate Fighting Championship 132, but both earened fight of the night honors.
